MUNDIJE- Mund= to defeat and Dije=the art, the way of defeating
is the oldest martial art in Europe, originated from Pelasgians-Illyrians- today called Albanians.
MUNDIJE was practiced in the Illyricum peninsula, thausands years before the first olympic games, 776 B.C
MUNDJE- was the martial art, practiced by the army of the Great Alexander, King Pirro from South Albania called Epirus and different kingdoms in Illyria, thousands of years B.C.
This ancient martial art discipline, is very similar to the MMA system.
The fighters were allowed to use their techniques by punching, kicking, using their elbows and knees,throwing, blocking their limbs and fight on the ground until one of them gave up.
Attacking on the opponent eyes was not allowed.
This was a traditional way of fighting in the whole region where pelasgian-Illyrians lived.

Even today, MUNDIJE is still a traditional art and popular sport in the whole region where Albanians live.
